Of interest is the correspondence in search of the two women who were present at the first meeting of the APS in 1899, Isabelle Stone and Marcia Keith.

Professor of physics. Ernest Merritt graduated from Cornell University in 1886 as an electrical engineer, and joined the staff as an instructor in 1889.
